4 Tricks to Overcome Resistance

A book, blog post, podcast, YouTube video, movie, quote, music, or a website that completely touches your emotions and current state of mind. These stuff may either motivate you or give you the courage to do the things you planned to do someday and really hoping that you will do it eventually.

Something that would be memorable and would teach you those lessons you don’t know that you don’t know. Now, read that again slowly.

And let’s get to it.

Here are 4 tricks to finally overcoming the resistance that is anchoring you from doing what you want:
1. Be Curious

Feed your curiosity in becoming the best version of yourself now. It’s not enough to passively read, listen to, and watch something you’re curious about. Take notes of what you hear, read, and learn from others.

This is the perfect time to refresh your minds. Recollect the things you wanted to do when you were a little kid. Once again, be curious of the ideas you wanted to try so excitingly!

2. Remember

After having and learning the things you wanted to do. You must certainly remember what you’ve got to do in the first place, right?

The answer is:

Yes, of course you should, silly!

An example is if you started to learn a foreign language. You know you must understand all the little things first. Then you’ve got to practice it. And remember to do it again tomorrow.

Apply it and connect it to your current knowledge to strengthen your nasty neural circuits in your brain. With this, you can easily remember what you have learned. Do it everyday to develop a great habit out of it.

3. Don’t Lie

We all know that “someday” is a lie. You must do what other people couldn’t do: Follow through. Do it now.

Resistance wants you to believe that you’ll be doing what you planned to do someday. Tomorrow, you’ll do it because you don’t feel motivated today. Maybe someday, if you had enough time.

Guess what? you’ll still feel the same way tomorrow. That someday motivation won’t get delivered to you like something you’d ordered from amazon/lazada. And hey, you have all the time in the world.

Resistance wants you to rationalize the things you’d have to do and leave it for the “time being.” It loves the little excuses you say whenever you stay unmotivated.

4. Constantly Be Curious

Yeah, great that you’ve done it. At last you finally did what you plan to do n years ago… and now what?

Here’s a good news: It won’t end there. Remember that learning never stops and it really shouldn’t. Our brain is limitless! We can continue to be curious of the things we want to know more about.

Digest these things, apply it to our lives, and share it to others. With this, not only are we doing it to protect our brains from possible diseases but we are also contributing to other people.

That’s the most important thing in the world. To contribute whatever you have. It would not only bring us true happiness but it could also spread a love virus (a good one, at least).

and God loves you, I love you, and thank you for reading. I appreciate you so much!

I resonate a lot with Andrew Kirby on YouTube. In fact, he inspired me to create this post. You might want to check his other videos out! Very informative and relatable for pro-crastinators (like me).

The book that also inspired me for this post is The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. It’s a fun masterpiece. I got all the ‘resistance’ idea from him. A harshly nice self-help read!

Fight resistance, read a book.

Warm wishes,
