Having Interest Skills For Life

Square

“When I’m on my death bed, will I regret not doing this?”

Having more than one skill that you can do is vital for life. It’s like having more than one identity rather than sticking to the saying “I can’t do that. I’m not that kind of person.” One skill is fine of course! If you have a skill like reading fast. Then I bet you also have read more books because of it! Then you would have an identity of a reader.

If you have a skill of listening to music, maybe you can also sing because of it. You don’t have to be the best singer out there to have a skill in singing, don’t you? Maybe you like to write then you find yourself writing once a week because you like it, it’s a skill! Everybody has at least one skill.

We learn the skills we have because at first we don’t know how to do it. If we don’t know how to do one thing, we’ll make sure to learn how to do it and how do people learn skills? They actually start doing it.

I have so many excuses

back when I was a teenager up until God knows when! πŸ™‚ I’d love to do so many things. But then I always say that I can’t do it, I’m not an actress, a singer, a dancer, a writer, an athlete, or I just don’t have the “motivation” to do it. Maybe someday. For all we know, that someday is a big fat lie.

We lie to ourselves that we can’t do something because we really don’t want to do it in the first place. That is called a life-lie. We use these excuses however if you just eliminate that ‘t’ in can’t, then you probably will do it. Because you believe you actually can!

For this quarantine period, I’ve explored my habits by reading self-help books as my guide. I re-discovered who I am, what I value in life, and what priorities I have. In one YouTube video of Thomas Frank about Time Management, he shared that quote above. I hurriedly took note of it because I want to remember it and use it as a guide.

In the things I want to learn or skills I want to improve, that’s the question I’m always going to want to remember. It hits you because once you realize that you aren’t going to live a long life, then and there your views in life would drastically change. You’d want to do all the things you don’t want to regret not doing, right?

After watching it, there’s one skill that came into my mind and that is: singing. And now I have a new thing I’d want to do every single day but first I’m going to learn how to sing. There are lots of online classes in Skillshare which is a BIG plus in it. I already started one class by Gabriel Burrafato and he’s amazing! Not technical with his teaching and he’s also a Two-Time Broadway Award Winning Actor/Singer. Maybe someday I’ll be singing for my friends and fam for a good jam!

So what’s one skill you wouldn’t want to regret not doing?

I would love for you to check skillshare out! There are lots of classes about anything you can think of. There’s even one masterclass on How to Study for Exams by my fav doc-youtuber, Ali.

If you’d like to test skillshare, sign up using this link and it will give you 2 months free access for all the classes and you can cancel anytime! (but I hope you won’t, skillshare is great! hehe)

Some self-help books that I’ve read and I do recommend:

Thank you for reading until here. I appreciate you!

Sincerely,
Maeve
